It's tough for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have been successfully scaled.

This is the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and once went 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the peak baggers, are all that remain for a side that has achieved everything.

The fact it required until Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in the women's 50-over format, is, in truth, a tribute to the bowling attack that have worn canary yellow over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their batters to hold a record if not provided the possibility.

Finally, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy being given a platform to create her latest masterpiece.

Then best known as the 19-year-old niece of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after Australia failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 World Cup win came three months after her first appearance and seven global championships have come from 10 efforts across formats.

The tough gloveman was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not fail again.

Whether this latest epic knock exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Some will argue the reasoning behind championship match pressure. Others can counter with the test that comes when facing a record target and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was far harder to anticipate.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she led the batting statistics, but this knock followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in training, it's been a challenging time because it appeared I lacked timing at all," said Healy.

"But once you enter the playing area, your competitive nature activate and you just lock into the match."

Healy's competitive nature has always been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in taking over from famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's spark.

A single came off the bowler's initial ball and from that point the batsman was on her way.

"An opportunity to take the field and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 balls - her quickest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 deliveries while she punished short deliveries, hitting 21 fours and three big hits.

By the time she was removed her side required another 66 at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I'm happy we have the belief to achieve that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to repeat it but, should it happen, we believe we can do it."

That comment will be the final thing competing nations at this tournament should hear.

During the last week a sense they will win from any position has grown stronger - this triumph following success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

During that phase they were eliminated from the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the initial instance at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she wanted to have participated through the pain.

However although she later admitted those fitness problems have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this tournament is likely to be her last as captain in one-day cricket and she is yet to win a world championship as captain.

Triumph in India would lead her to the peak of her ultimate challenge.
