England Bowling Consultant Southee Uncertain on The Ashes Availability
Tim Southee's most recent Test for New Zealand was versus the English side in the final month of 2024.
England's bowling consultant Southee is currently evaluating the extent of his role will be during the upcoming Ashes series in Australia.
The former Kiwi pace bowler is expected to be present for the first Test due to his involvement in the ILT20 tournament, which starts on December 2 in the United Arab Emirates.
Southee, aged 36, took up a role as England's fast bowling consultant in the summer after claiming 391 scalps in 107 Test matches for New Zealand.
Speaking as the English team for the opening of three Twenty20 games against the Kiwis was named, he said of his participation: "We're still working through the situation at the present time.
"We will determine the outcome over the next little while."
English pace icon Stuart Broad had stated the Australia team as their "worst team since 2010", but the consultant was in no uncertainty over what to expect during the contest, which starts on November 21.
"I don't think there's at any time a poor Australian cricket team," he said.
"The team's attention is firmly on our own objectives. I think the quality of [the English] side that's going out to the host country is excellent.
"It ought to be an thrilling encounter, that series. Not just [are|do] English and Australian people eagerly anticipate it, I think the whole cricket world is."
However, prior to the English team travel to Perth for the opening Ashes Test, they face New Zealand in Christchurch on Saturday.
